The Corelli Ensemble welcomes
you to a very special season of concerts for 2019-2020, celebrating the Corelli
Ensemble’s 30th Anniversary since it’s inaugural concert in 1989.
Presenting a spectacular
array of international soloists, including the Corelli Ensemble’s President,
soprano Dame Felicity Lott, tenor Paul Austin Kelly, oboe Owen Dennis and
recorder Piers Adams, along with solo appearances from the Corelli Ensemble’s
musical director, Maeve Jenkinson, and other members of the ensemble.
Folk Music is this year’s
theme, appearing in various guises, from Butterworth’s evocative Sussex Folk
Songs, to Tchaikovsky’s ravishing Serenade for Strings (the last movement is
built around two Russian Folk tunes), Rutter’s attractive Suite for Strings
based on well loved British folk songs, Crispin Ward’s dazzling Celtic Concerto
for Recorder, and some traditional Irish fiddling from the Corelli Ensemble’s
own prizewinning Irish Fiddler, Matt Gabel.
Special concerts this season
include a sparkling Christmas Concert, and a Children’s Concert featuring Kate
Comberti’s magical musical story “The Enchanted Violin” - perfect for the young,
and not so young!
Corelli Ensemble concerts last
an hour, making them suitable for all ages, with refreshments served afterwards
when the audience is welcome to meet the performers.
So do come and celebrate 30
years of Corelli Ensemble Concerts; bringing uplifting live Classical music to the
people of Sussex.
Retiring collections this
season will be in aid of Homelink.
This year we are also offering Season Tickets, costing £40
for any four concerts.
